Our History

Some students and Dr. Nimgade went to meet the then Agriculture Minister Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh at his residence.

Imagine things that we Maharashtrians have very little in Delhi. It is necessary for everyone to gather in them to awaken the feeling of brotherhood and love for each other. So it was decided at that time that there would be a picnic in Okhla. On February 14, 1951, around 25-30 people gathered in Okhla on the banks of the Jamuna River. At the same time, mutton, whole casserole was prepared. There was also a program for some entertainment and mutual introduction after dinner. At the same time it also decided that a committee should be formed. After discussion, an institution named Snehasvardhan Mandal was formed. Every year the program started happening, it was named as Picnic. As people started growing, the gathering of everyone's food became difficult. So everyone planned to bring their food from home.

Due to getting the post of minister, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh did not get time to go for picnic. Still the picnic continued. People from every caste of religion started coming to the picnic. Among them, Bahujan society people did not eat mutton. Some people liked to eat mutton on holiday. Some people started bringing mutton from home. That's non-vegetarian and vegetarian people started eating food after making different circles. Another obstacle in this was that most of the people belonged to the ‘Mahar society’. He invited some Buddhist monks. Trisharan. Panchsheel was worshiped by the monks before the meal. Maybe that's some people from other societies stopped coming there. After this, only people of Schedule cast and majority of people of Mahar community of Maharashtra also came in it. He continued that picnic. People of Maharashtra who want to work for social work, some of those who came to Delhi to get jobs, will establish ‘All India Siddharth Welfare Center’ in 1971. Doctor N. M Nimgade made President of Working Committee.
